Setting up a Netzu alarm clock
A short routine based on the instructions in the listings. Button names differ slightly by model; the quick guide printed on many clocks shows the exact keys.
Power it and add the backup batteries
Plug the clock in with the supplied cable and adapter. Insert the AAA (or coin-cell) batteries if your model has a backup compartment: they only save settings during a power cut and do not run the display.
Set the time
Press and hold SET until the hour flashes, change it with + or −, press SET, then do the same for the minutes. A short press of SET switches between 12- and 24-hour time on most models.
Set one or two alarms
Press the alarm key (AL1 or AL2), adjust hour and minutes the same way, then choose the tone and volume. Models with schedules let you pick daily, weekdays or weekends.
Pick the wake mode
On bed-shaker models, place the pad under the pillow or mattress and choose sound only, vibration only or both before you go to sleep.
Aim the projection
Turn the projector arm toward the ceiling or wall, use the flip key if the digits appear upside down, and set the projection brightness. On models with a focus ring, sharpen the image.
Dim the display for the night
Step through the brightness levels with the dimmer key or wheel until the display is comfortable, or turn it off completely if the room needs to be dark.
Care & safety
Wipe the clock with a dry, soft cloth and keep it away from water. Use the adapter or cable that came with it, keep the projector lens free of dust, and remove the backup batteries if you store the clock for a long time.
Quick fixes
- The display went dark.Check that the clock is plugged in: on mains models the batteries cannot light the screen. Then press the dimmer key, the display may be set to off.
- The time was lost after a power cut.Insert fresh backup batteries; without them the clock forgets its settings when unplugged.
- The time is one hour off.Press the DST button to move the clock forward or back by one hour.
- The projection is upside down or blurry.Press the flip key and move the arm closer to a flat, light surface.

Do the batteries power the clock?
On most Netzu models, no. They are mains or USB-powered and the AAA or coin-cell batteries only keep the time and alarms during a power cut. The Battery & USB model is the exception: it runs on four AA batteries or on its USB cable.
Which Netzu clock is best for heavy sleepers?

How does the bed shaker work?
The round pad is connected to the clock by a cable and goes under your pillow or mattress. When the alarm goes off it vibrates; you can choose sound only, vibration only or both, which also suits people who are hard of hearing.
Can I turn the display completely off at night?
Most models dim in several steps all the way to off, either with a dimmer key on top or a wheel or slider on the side or back. The alarm still works with the display off.
